PLD & Nanoionics

Research in this group focuses on the study of ionic-electronic transport properties in nanostructured materials (epitaxial thin films and multilayers). The reduced size of the crystal domains, strain effects, along with proximity effects at the interface between different oxide materials could dramatically affect their transport properties. We are particularly interested in the applications of these nanostructures in small-scale electrochemical devices such as micro-SOFC (solid oxide fuel cells) and gas sensors.
