Novel Energy-Oriented Materials Group

Expert in materials science and chemistry for energy-related applications. Leader of research projects in the fields of energy storage and conversion (i.e. fuel cells (especially PEM but also SOFC), lithium batteries, supercapacitors), advanced functional materials and nanocomposites (hybrid organic-inorganic materials, new oxides, polyoxometalates).

Author of 10² (ten to the two) articles in refereed international journals, including several reviews and book chapters. Scientific editor of the book "Functional Hybrid Materials"  (Wiley-VCH), 2004. Member of EuroScience (2004-, organizers of ESOF), American Association for the Advancement of Science (1993-2004), the Electrochemical Society , and the Materials Research Society, and the Asociación Española de Periodismo Científico (AEPC) among others. Author of the books "Metaevolución. La Tierra en el espejo" (Celeste Ed., 2001) and "Un planeta en busca de energía" (Ed. Síntesis, 2007).

Director of 9 PhD Thesis, 8 Master Thesis, and host of many European Students (Marie Curie Program, bilateral programs) and post-doctoral fellows. Leading scientist of five main National (Spanish) Research Projects, several International joint projects (with laboratories in Germany, France, México, Chile), as well as participant in EU projects (Network of Excellence FAME, Marie Curie, STREP projects). Several Research Contracts and collaborative projects with Spanish and International Industries.
